An ICC Profile is a file supplied by your ink manufacturer to convert the colours from your graphics software to colours that provide the best match when printed.

You need to turn OFFcolour management in your printer driver and turn ON colour management in your graphics software (eg. Photoshop, CorelDraw, Gimp, etc). Note that not all graphics software can handle ICC profiles.

You then need to select the ICC profile from within your graphics software so that it can manage the colours sent to the printer.

Without an ICC you will be struggling to get decent printouts. Note also that the colours on the printed paper transfer will look wrong. They will appear dull and not the right colour. This is normal, as they will appear correct when sublimated in your press.

Thank you I will be looking out for that. The design software I am using is drawplus by a company called Serif so I will have to see if that works for me. I will have to see if there is
ICC Profile with the inks.

Never used it, but I believe DrawPlus does support ICC printer profiles.

DrawPlus is like a poor man's illustrator. I have used it for years. It is a real robust bit of kit and very affordable. I will talk with them about ICC printer profiles and see if anyone can help. Just a quickie do you know if it is possible that Microsoft word would benefit from having ICC printer profiles as sometimes my daughter uses that out as convenience.

Actually, if you could output the MS Word page in a format supported by your graphics software, maybe as a jpg, png or pdf, then you'd be able to just do the printing from the graphics software with the correct profile loaded.

Hi, an ICC profile is used to match the specific ink, paper and printer model you are using. With sublimation printing the ink is not what the OEM intended and so the colours are not identical to that used by the printer as standard (in 99% of cases) so to get good colour matching i.e. what you print and heat press looks very close match to the onscreen image you have. An ICC is required.

Ourselves and a lot of other suppliers will supply an ICC profile to match the ink to the printer in question but sometimes (depending on the printer model, ink supplier) this is not always the case and a custom ICC is required, a member on here (Paul, I think) can make custom profiles for forum members.

The story so far, we jumped into sublimation printing and purchased a printing bundle from ebay. Now I have done some research and getting good advice from this forum we regret not waiting until we could afford something more professional. The system works but to a poor standard especially in the colour rendition area. The worse is that blacks print with a very noticeable green tinge.
The printer we got was a Epson WF-2010 and came bundled with unbranded press, inks and paper although the inks are labelled EPN which I guess is for Epsom. At this moment I have been unable to set up a ICC profile but hope this will help with the blacks.
It is heart breaking to see the poor quality of the sublimation prints that at the moment we can not offer it as a service even we have had a lot of interest in the products.
It is also suggested that the heat press settings maybe at fault, either to hot for to long or to little heat so I am a bit confused and guess we have a lot of experimenting to do
Sorry about the rant but in essence I would advise anyone wishing to start up to take time to look around and read through the forum for advice

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare, cheap inks do tend to transfer the black as a brown or with a dark tint, however this is often caused by the incorrect heat press temp and time.

If you are basing your temperature and times on the heat press manual disregard this, always follow the temp and times guided by by the supplier of the blank item. On the whole this tends to be a good way of checking the required heat press settings, but again don't take them as gospel truth and always do some experimenting (changing the temp +/- 10 c and time +/- 10 seconds) to see if things improve. This way well be the cause of your black printing issue.
