New Ricoh SG3110

Hi all,

i have finally got rid of my Epson wf-3010. (Well it actually gave up).
i today went to xPres to pick up my new Ricoh SG3110DN.

After a couple of hours setting it up I'm now ready to start printing.
i have a couple of questions.
1. I couldn't find much information about setting up for Photoshop & Illustrator. I think most places tend to favour Corel Draw. I think I've sorted it now. When I go to print in Photoshop I select the printer and the new ICC profile. Do I have to change anything when printing on different substrates?

2. ICC profile or Powerdriver. Which one is best? What is the difference.

3. XPres supplied a free pack of paper (their own brand). Is this as good as Truepix?

one last thing. xPres have a really impressive building and set up. I didn't realise I lived so close to them.

Hi Andy You can find setup guides for Adobe here http://www.techsupport.sawgrasseurope.c ... er/english That's assuming you're using Win7, otherwise backtrack a couple of pages.

I would suggest using the Powerdriver, this is basically just controlling the icc profiles for you. You select your substrate/product from a drop down list in Powerdriver.

The Xpres paper is excellent. Personally I favour TruPix but for the money I've found nothing to beat the Xpres stuff (Especially factoring in your Premium Membership Discount!) The Xpres showroom is first class isn't it? I'm down for another meeting with them in a couple of weeks, always a pleasure visiting

So just to clarify, I still need the ICC profile even if I'm using the Powerdriver.

No, installing the Powerdriver does it all for you, you don't need to install profiles Sorry, i could have made that clearer.

Andy, with you being used to the Epson, make sure you change the option in PS to "printer manage colors" and not "photoshop manage colors"
like I did yesterday after setting mine up lol

you should get better results with Photoshop managing colours with theprinter ICC, and then you also get all the softproofing advantages
