Laser transfer printing

Hi.

I have been reading up on using laser printers to produce transfers to print on to t-shirts.
All the info is mind blowing with white toner etc etc.

Before I get brain block could someone answer a simple question.

I own a HP LaserJet 3000 printer. Can I use this to produce transfers. I know Magic Touch do a lot of different papers but all I hear people talking about is Oki.

Please can someone enlighten me as If I can then that's a big cost saving for me.

i think ppl talk abou oki for two reasons .they come up with a white tonner machine (you cant use your normal lazer printer for whit tonner ) .and also oki has a LED system for printing if i am right...

I've done some more reading up and nobody actually says it doesn't work but then again nobody says it does. Lol

There's a lady on the t-shirt forum that was just about to buy one for laser transfer printing so I've messaged her to find out how she got on

Give the magic touch a bell and ask for some sample pApers before you buy boxes, I'm sure they will help

as i understand it, the main issue for laser printing tshirt transfer is the ability of the printer to fuse the toner to the page.
You need a printer with settings for very heavy paper stock, so the printer will slow right down, and hence, more heat can be used to fuse the transfer. Given that most desktop printers are bought with self replaceable (and expensive) components, you may find you can get some acceptable results (or not) with any desktop laser printer set to ultra heavy stock, but if you get a jam or two, and scratch the drum, - either of a colour toner unit OR the fuser unit, it is an expensive swap replacement!!!!!
It is a good fast cheap quality process to get into, but I think having the right printer is a good idea, you don't need to start with white anyhow!!
