Just took delivery of 72 x 10oz mugs and 8 of them are broken
I don't want to name the company I purchased from as I know its the delivery companies fault
(I dread it when they roll up)
8 broken mugs out of 72....is that acceptable or would you want them replacing?

Personally I would want them replacing, however some suppliers will not replace them and leave you with the damages.
If I am taking a delivery I always give the box a shake. If I hear the telling sound of broken ceramics I refuse to sign for it.

My opinion is I'd want them all replaced, or at the very least credited to your account. You paid for 72 mugs - you should get 72 mugs. Not your problem if the courier they are using is rough with the delivery. This is something they should take up with the courier, not you.

Thanks and yeah Im pretty much of same opinion.
2 or 3 maybe acceptable now and again. First two deliveries were breakage free.
They packaged the two boxes together in one big one which made it very heavy and awkward and I just know somebody will have dropped it.
I emailed them an image of breakages and am awaiting their reply

The packaging used by the supplier should be sufficient to withstand what is reasonably expected from a courier service. Obviously there will be extremes that can't be catered for. But liability should always come down to the supplier. It's also down to good customer service and relations to build an ongoing relationship.

I get mine from Coralgraph, and they recently chnged courier, they used to use the Post Office. The new courier managed to break 6 of the mugs, and Coralgraph immediately offered to replace them, no problem.
I get 8 boxes a time, and they are not stuck together. Easier to handle when they are just single boxes of 36, as you said two stuck together make them even heavier. Mind you, by sticking them together, they may get charged for each parcel so less cost!

I ordered some ceramics from Longforte and one yes one item was damaged...... A replacement arrived next morning.... quality supplier or what.

I tend to deal with companies that have decent couriers as to minimise risks. As I said on the other thread about mug breakages, I've had suppliers who had delivered entire boxes (and multiple boxes) that have arrived cracked, smashed and beyond belief. I even had a courier once deliver a heat press which was left on the steps of my house with the box open in the pouring rain. Needless to say that the heat press went right back.
If you have a company and you have breakages they should pay for them. Just take photographic proof of each mug (or box if its that badly borked) and send it to them.

I've used two suppliers and never had a complete box. Range from proper smash to little chips. They even wrap the box in heavy duty bubble wrap and then another box.
What do these drivers do with them?

I think its time to change supplier then. BMS have a thick cardboard box and every individual has a polythene bag and then an individual bubble wrap bag. Also helps if your courier/delivery driver isn't a complete waste of space. I only trust DPD/TNT/UPS/FEDEX and at a push Parcelforce. MyHermes and Yodel can gtf.
