2 questions re mug sublimation
Re: 2 questions re mug sublimation
Hello, please could anyone tell me the answers to the following two questions?
1) if you sublimate an image on one side of a mug, can you put the mug back in the heat press to sublimate something on the other side of the mug? Or will it damage the first image?
2) once you have printed on to sublimation paper how long can you keep it before sublimating? I was wanting to print a batch of an image off but not sure whether it "goes off" if not used straight away?
Thanks very much

The other image will overcook and blur if heated again. Printed sheets will last a long time, but keep them in a box away from light and dust.

Re: 2 questions re mug sublimation
I have done it before with a tshirt print but that's a shorter press time I just made sure that the first side I printed was placed on top of normal printer paper when i turned it to do the other side so it wouldn't release the ink into anything if it gassed again if that makes sense don't think would work with mugs though due to press time
Re: 2 questions re mug sublimation
Thanks soul claimed for your reply I'll keep that in mind for t-shirts.
Mrs maggot that's a very valid question! I'm having a bit of a problem, I'm new to sublimating and my partner got an order for 30 mugs (with more to be ordered if first batch ok) for his boss - his perfectionist boss, so no pressure - the design is the logo on one side and on the other a bullet pointed list of services they offer, which would be fine on a bog standard mug that fits in my mug press, but he wanted a more delicate mug and we have got him the orca Windsor ones. The only problem is that they don't fit in my press so I bought an wrap that you use in the oven but it doesn't seem to grip tightly all the way round the mug properly even though it is supposed to be for that mug (which is a bit narrower at bottom than the top) which is why I was thinking of doing one side at a time but that's obviously a no-no. These mugs are driving me nuts [emoji30]

Re: 2 questions re mug sublimation
Why not get the correct blanket for your press then? Assuming its not some cheap Chinese rubbish purchased from Ebay for a packet of crisps and a coke, you should be able to get the correct blanket from your supplier. The only problem is that they don't fit in my press

Re: 2 questions re mug sublimation
Well it's definitely not top of the range as just starting out, the idea being to upgrade equipment, as money comes in. As for it being Chinese I'm not sure, it's a heatwave heat press? My partner looked into it and there doesn't appear to be a compatible one for it for those mugs, so maybe it is rubbish idk. We're not rich and have had to start with what we can afford and work our way up,. I'd love top of the range stuff, but one step at a time.
