Hi - My name is David and I joined today.
I am a full time photographer and have only just started out on producing Dye Sub mug products after requests from customers, so I am a complete novice.
I got a Ricoh Sg3110 dn and a mug press delivered only yesterday along with a box of 11oz mugs, paper and heat tape so I am all ready to start my learning curve and I am sure I will need help and guidance along the way.
Anyway, this was just a quick hello and I hope to get to know some of you in the future.
David

Re: Greetings fron sunny but cold Morecambe
Well, I just set up the press and printer and done my first mugs.
1st came out awful (printed on wrong side of paper)
Second came out good but the blacks were more brown.
Then a few others but some were faded on bottom. From reading on here I think its because my mugs were coldish.
I have a few issues with the press I dont understand and the instructions are minimul so will put in a post on the appropriate forum.
Thanks for the welcomes

Hi,
Blacks turning brown is temperature too high and cooked for too long. Ricoh printer inks require less time.
Faded at the bottom can be corrected by either giving solid blocks of colour longer times +40 secs for blacks.
Heating the bass of your mug.
Don't print the full height of the mug.
Change your brand of mug which prints better at the bottom.

Reduced time, heated base of mug and they are now coming out great. Thanks for the advice.
