Re: Black ink only

Post by bycandlelight27 »

Hi,
All of my printing is in black ink, I have a continuous job and have not used any other colours as all the artwork for is black.
I have a Ricoh SG3110 which is a great work horse, but the colour cartages and have finally get dried up that were in the machine and so now need replacing.
The mach to now won't let me print till I replace them.
As I only use the black one, if I flush the colours and replace with regular colour cartridges but keep the black one a sublimation one would that be a bad idea?
Seems like a waste to buy 3 colours that won't get used.
Is that a terrible idea or not?

it is terrible idea really...
have you ever though why other colors are gone?

this is coz all colors are used to create black. very rarely only black ink is used.

I presume you could buy refillable cartridges and fill them ALL up with black?
could work for you.

It's set up to use black only. I've checked the profile many times.
Interesting idea about refilling though.
Thanks

You could use refill carts, and just have printer cleaner/flush in the other lines

Bms if I was looking at replacing the printer itself that would definitely be an option, thank you.
But the printer itself is great *fingers crossed* it's only the cartridges
