Re: Ricoh 3110 Wheel Marks

Post by Ucase Ltd »

So I'm waiting for the guys at Nova-Chrome to give me a call back but thought I'd see if anyone here has encountered this and, if so, how they solved it.

On every print I am getting a set of dotted lines all the way across the paper which seem to be wheel marks of some description.

1st Call to NovaChrome advised me to run a load of paper through it while printing a very feint image (2% black fill).

It appeared to work as the dotted lines dissapeared - But as soon as I printed a normal image again they return.

You can see them in the image attached.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to try and take it apart but would rather avoid this.

Any advice suggestions gratefully taken on board. Or If you've taken one of these apart before I'd appreciate any pointers.

Thanks Guys,
John.

What paper is it it is almost like the ink is not drying before hitting the rollers.

I have been using gold film but switched to paper - I have trupix and also some non-branded paper from china. Same result.

This problem started a couple of months ago but as got steadily worse.

One of my printers is a SG3110DN with TruePix and never had that problem.

I think it may be due to using film

I had this when I first started. I was using a cheap paper. Changed to TruPix and the problem went away.

I know there is a "drying delay" in the settings but I don't know if that delay kicks in before the rollers?

Seen this recently on one of my Ricohs whilst printing block backgrounds, could well be a drying issue.

Had a similar problem with tracks when laying down large coloured areas this was down to the paper and changing to a better one proved fruitful don't get it at all now even if i print a solid black background which was a worst case senario. Does seem that everyone is of the same mind on this one.

Thanks for all your comments guys but I had this with decent paper also.

BUT - I have now fixed it. - Just in case anyone else suffers this...

If you shine a light at the 4 rollers on the out-feed and concentrate on the middle 2 – there are 4 wheels.
Just behind those 4 are another 2 wheels.

I simply took a dry cotton bud and cleaned those 2 wheels at the back (you can just get a bud in there if you’re careful).

Hey Presto - Problem Solved :)
