So its down to the substrate, nothing to do with equipment you may be using thats any different.

"and i don't have to pre-heat the base" can you explain what this means please Justin ? Do you have to pre heat the mug? I guess the print times start when the press reaches the recommended temperature.

You'll find pre-heating discussed several times on the forum, in the last few days as well. As the base of the mug is denser the heat can take longer to penetrate and cause the print to fade along the bottom. Pre-heating gets a little heat into the base so that it catches up with the rest of the mug and transfers equally.
