the paper i normally use from bms was sold out so i bought there own version it seems a hell of a lot thicker and now after having no problems with my printer its picking up 3 or 4 pages at once which is cocking the print on the paper up

also since this i have noticed on the print i can see small horizontal lines even when just one page is going through anyone know what the problem is with the horizontal lines?

Been down this road....

Paper thickness may not be a problem. I have tried paper from several suppliers and found a couple that would not feed correctly in my 3110. In one case the paper has been cut with a guillotine that causes the paper edges to "stick" together. You have to peel them apart before loading into the printer after which all is well. I will not mention the makes as the issues may not be consistent and not fair to post a negative comment.

The other seems to have a high friction coating that prevents sheets from sliding freely. The printer paper takeup system relies on friction to pull the top of the sheet into the rollers but also need low friction on the print side to allow it to slide over the next sheet. The result is 2 or more sheets being loaded which, if staggered, can confuse the paper sensor into thinking it has larger paper. The printer then has to be cleared on the front panel to proceed with the next print.

I have now settled on TexPrint-R which works well without any of the problems. I have to say that the Ricoh seems to be pretty poor in this regard and never experienced this with my other printers. However the coating is quite different to normal printer paper. The Rocoh is also manic when it comes to paper feeding so ensure the "quick paper feed" box is unchecked.

Banding can be caused by several things, presume you have done the usual head & nozzle checks. I have had to reinstall the print driver a couple of times and also found that printing highest quality produced a worse print... no I don't understand either. If using the standard driver select "quality priority" not high quality. I also found I have fewer problems when using power driver, especially when getting photoshop to remember print settings. Using the standard driver was hit and miss. I seem to remember that using powerdriver slows down the whole process a bit so that helps.

I also had horizontal lines which could not be cleared through cleaning/setup, these suddenly appeared from one day to the next. Switching to Powerdriver solved this. No logic here but worth a try !.

All I can recommend is the basics. Run your thumb through the edge of the paper to help separate them. Turn your paper the opposite way round in case the curl of the paper is getting caught.

For the horizontal lines, check your print head alignment in the maintenance section. Your printer may not like the thicker paper if you have the plain paper setting. Try the next setting up (photo paper etc) and allow time for the ink to dry before pressing.
