Re: mini banner for outside use

Post by arthur.daley »

Hi

Anyone here make banners - I need a very simple banner about 2800mm wide by 300mm deep ideally with some eyelets and with about 20 letters printed on it. Its to be used across the top of a gazebo so needs to be waterproof and reasonably UV stable.

Anyone able to help out for a sensible price?

I used to use a local company who print a lot of articulated lorry curtains - each curtain generates a sizeable offcut. If you could make your banner fit their offcut sizes they were very reasonably priced. I get the impression that they stopped doing this kind of work because most of it was sold to the general public who seemed unable to supply images etc at an appropriate resolution. Their ink jet printers were quite something to behold when in full flow!

I am about to get a banner (2400mm x 200mm) as a temporary shop sign from:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161358580145

Can't grumble at the price. Would be nice though to put work to a forum member but nobody biting just yet....

There is a lot of waste material because banner material (for printing) usually comes on rolls of 762mm width upwards hence the wastage when making narrower banner products.

Just waiting for a quote so will see what the final price is. Can the offcuts be reused ?.

2 banners.... not a bad idea as the shop is in the NW highlands and fairly exposed to the gentle airs we have up here.

The material we print on is 1370mm wide. Mostly what we print is min 1000mm width.

Using the space with multiple banners is better as you ultimate pay for the wastage. Our edges are hemmed 25mm and have plastic 8mm eyelets pressed in.

My spec:

Length 2400mm
Height 200mm

Text: Sutherland Arts & Crafts
Font: Bookman Old Style Regular
Text Height: 130mm
Text Colour: White
Text Position: Central to banner
Background: Black

This temporary banner will be fixed to an existing board above the shop window. The banner will be fixed using capped screws through the eyelets. As the shop is in the NW Highlands and facing south I would appreciate additional eyelets at 300mm intervals where possible. If eyelets were balck it would be a bonus.
