Grey Temp Change .... odd! Anybody else had this?

My xpress mug presses with sawgrass dyes and paper using an epson 7890 prints during the winter faultlessly with cold mugs straight from the box at 170 degrees 205 seconds.

Well today I have a run to do with mugs with a panel at 70% black...add to this a streaming cold (everybody "Ohhh Bless"....) and the mugs print with lines from the heater elements...really all three presses go tits up in 1 go? Add to that the grey is going a very nice bronze roughly a quart of the way up the mugs! Nice bronze very metallic, you couldn't get this very subtle effect if you tried!

Now I am one for being methodical, so adjust time...hmm better, continue....nope we can do better, but not right. Now start on temperature hmm getting better.

Voila.. sorted, 9 mugs later, 160 degrees 185 secs. Now the print run can progress.

The moral here is that there really is nothing set in stone with this job is there!

This is one thing I figured out very early on with sublimation! It can be a right pain at times, but I still really enjoy doing it!

Print lines from the heater is normally a sign of too much pressure. Most of my problems are corrected by pressure as mugs can vary in size or else the heat blanket swells up perhaps. Anything with a large area of dark solid colour is normally given an extra 40 seconds.

I always read these posts about mug presses and the issues with interest. I don't want to jinx myself coming up to xmas butI have only ever done mugs in a halogen oven for 18 mins at 200 degrees. From very dark images to just a line of text. All I tend to adjust is the time. The temp is only set by the dial on the oven so this may be over or under by a couple of degrees. I also do latte mugs and the metal sports bottles in the oven with no wraps only heat tape holding the paper tightly around the items.
