Re: Epson 9600

Post by Richeyg »

Hi, Just looking for some advice here, I might be way off but I am looking at a used
Epson 9600, this is currently running standard inks, how easy would it be to get this
flushed and converted to sub inks. I know of a company that would be able to do this
along with a service.

Would I just be getting into one big headache with colour profiles and drivers etc....
and would it just be easier to buy a ready to go Sub printer?

Many Thanks

Ink installation is easy. Profiling is easiest done with your own kit, check the drivers, I run windows 7 and my old 7600 was happy with that but newer windows versions I can't comment on. It was good because I was forced to understand profiling, and really learned a lot along the way.
I loved cutting my teeth in this way.

Drivers are fine up to Windows 7, but will not work with Windows 8.
Installing sublimation inks are easy- you need a set of refill cartridges, 7 litre of sublimation ink, fill them up with the ink, prime them and put them in the printer. In the service menu, select INIT FILL which will dump all the old ink into the waste tank and refill the printer with the new sublimation ink.
Again in the service menu, turn off the ink counters, and just keep topping up the carts when they are getting low.
Talk to Paul (moderator on here) about getting a profile made.
Google for and download the user manual!
