Re: Ricoh 3300 issues

Post by Graham Essex »

Hi All,
We are having a problem with our Ricoh 3300 and wondered if you could suggest anything?
We’ve been printing the same image files for years but suddenly everything has a pink hue.
Old black and white photographs look like sepia photos!
We’ve not made any changes to the profiles or driver.
I’ve done the usual nozzle cleaning etc.
I’ve printed from different programs (even printed from MSword) and even from different PC's.
Still same issue - pinky cast to everything.

We use genuine Sawgrass cartidges and have changed nothing for weeks.

Any ideas?

Hi Justin. No, we are not using power (when we installed it these was a clash with our plotter driver. The installer spent hours trying to fix it before giving up). So we have always printed straight from CorelDraw using the Ricoh driver.
We have printed these same images hundreds of times before and had no issues.
We did all the usual tests (nozzle alignment, nozzle clean, deep clean etc).
I tried different materials in case it was an issue with a batch of material – no change.
I printed one square of each colour (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black) and they look awful. Very washed out. The black particularly looks very feint. If I print the black square in black-and-white mode it’s nice and dark.

I printed a line of squares starting from 100% black through to 10% black and there is a definite pinky hue to the greys.

People have suggested we install powerdriver and start changing settings but that’s missing the point…..… we have printed this same artwork 100’s of times before using the same software, same PC and same printer and never had these issues so something has changed!

I suspect something has changed, although you may not have specifically changed anything. As this is printing the same from Word as it is from Corel then it sounds to me as though the ICC profile (which you must have installed in Corel) is either not there or a setting relating to it has changed. I have know Windows updates for example to inadvertently change settings in software and on more than one occasion we have heard of similar things happening.

Re-check all your settings in Corel as per the Sawgrass set up instructions (http://sawgrasseurope.com/technical-sup ... winprofile) and see if this resolves the problem...
