So,

4 days ago I was reading up about DTG machines ..........
The last couple of days it was about sublimation systems and cutters ..........
Today has all been about vinyl.

Been rather successful as I realised that I can probably make my own shop sign with the right kit (Mulberry) but then it dawned on me .........

If I have the cutter, the logo's/text and the software - can I make my own vehicle graphics ?

I presume I need some 'special' vinyl so I had a look at Mulberry but nothing jumped out as 'vehicle' vinyl ......... should I be looking for something titled different?

Yes, sign vinyl is different and also a lot cheaper than garment vinyl ;)

You don't need an awful lot of equipment to have a go, probably application tape, couple of squeegees etc.

I use macal 9800 series which is a 5 - 7 year outdoor vinyl - don't bother with the cheaper 3 - 5 year vinyls. You'll also have to buy a log of application tape - when you buy it get them to cut it to a few different widths.

All above can be bought from Amari or Pyramid Display.

Be careful what you ask for - we use the word vinyl to describe the sticky backed material for putting onto cars, windows etc and use the word flex for the thin garment film. We've had it in the past where a customer has asked for vinyl and... well you guessed it!

You're gonna need a bigger heat press as well to get that Cortina under :?
