too much ink on the paper causing it to 'ripple' ... doesn't really affect the final transferred print, is more of a problem if the paper is the final product.

What we found was that different papers affected print output to a point where each paper change required a new ICC to be made.
Due to this I find it hard to hear people comparing papers on colour reproduction with what I would assume to be the same generic ICC profile across them all - this doesn't make sense.

I use a spectroproofer on my 4900 for each new fine art paper and would never use a canned profile. However I am more than happy with the SubliClassic/generic profile combination and it seems to work well for me. I may get a profile made in the future by way of comparison, unfortunately I can't use the spectro for this one.

I have been working on the assumption that sub prints do not appear to be the right colours as the ink transforms after heating. This may be wrong but how does a profiler such as the spyder account for the fact the print is on sub paper is there a special target ?

Colour profiling needs to be done on the finished product not the transfer paper.

Ok, that makes more sense !. Difficult to profile a mug so do you select a flat item with the same coating such as Orca ?. Is there a big difference between the various coatings ?.

We have most our products profiled correctly, mugs are hard but metal is pretty close, we got a load of ceramic coasters with the same coating to achieve this example.

We have a profile schedule for items to test the consistency throughout the year with different weathers and adjust where needed.
