Sublimated plates food safe?

I'm planing on sublimating plates in the future but I'm concerned that they might not be food safe. Does anyone know if sublimated Sawgrass Rioch ink will be food safe?

Then there is the issue of the ceramic plate itself and the polymer coating being food safe. I assume there must be a standard type of coating that is used on sublimation ceramic that has been developed to be food safe?

I will be looking for plain white plates that can be sublimated over the entire surface, anyone know of an UK supplier that stocks them?

You should be able to download the MSDS sheets from Sawgrass for their inks

You need to think though, that essentially, these plates have a plastic coating, and if used as an actual plate to eat off, then the print won't last long especially if a knife is used to cut on them.

Mugs are food safe aren't they so plates wouldn't be any different. My mum often complains about the mugs I gave her have tea spoon scrapes when the tea is stirred; so the coating can be damaged. Not sure what your business idea is, but would decorative plates on a stand be a better idea?

Certainly as a supplier we would recommend sublimation plates for decorative use only. Sorry to burst your bubble!
