How do I test 'Dampers' ?

I have some out - cant blow through them - there looks to be a 'Diaphragm' in the middle but even though that is pressed I still cant blow through these.

I cant see any damage - no holes in the film which seals them.. at a loss as to how these work?

If you have started taking them oit I would just change them. The vacuum has gone on some of ours on the past on the various 4000 models we have used.

Does anyone know which other models have the same Dampers? there seems to be a shortage on eBay for the 4k.

And I am still waiting for something to be delivered from someone in China who has a lot of spares so don't really want to be waiting again.

It's refreshing simple to work on this machine :)

The 7000 + 9000 ranges use many of the same parts. We have had the 4000 several years back and about 5 others between the 4800 and 4880 along with a couple 9600's. Never noticed a difference on the resevoir bits you have out. We didn't change these ourselves though when the suction went but I know they were only a few quid when the parts were bought. It was UK supplied but not ebay, can't remember more than that. What I do remember is not to mess about with them parts too much as that is how the vacuum goes. Got a 4880 sitting idle right now as it has this problem.

Most likely the 7600/9600 have the same dampers
I would agree, if you have the head assembly out, then you may as well replace the whole set, then you know they're all new/same age.

To add ... for your 4000 posts, it may be better to post in the wide format section, as it is most relevent there, even though it's a relatively small wide format printer, is has a lot more in common with its bigger brothers than small home/office printers.

I'm quite a pedantic person, although I try not to show it.

But I was under the impression this was a 'Large Format' printer but I hear you, since we don't have a 'Large Format' area I will post in the suggested area from now.

Large Format=WideFormat, and yes, according to the manufacturer it is a large format printer, it's only Sawgrass who don't, but they didn't make the printer (or any printer), so what would they know?!

I can lift a 4000 series printer on my own OK, I struggle with the 7600s, and no way could I do a 9600!

Bit the Bullet and bought 8X Dampers from Donparts (Shanghai).

Here - as I am not in a hurry as need to save up for the ink.

Less that £20 delivered - may as well replace them all at Once as advised here.
