I think Action Scripts are quite a new thing with Photoshop - So I doubt it

I've been using actions in Photoshop for a few years now. I'm on CS4 but previously had CS.
It would be worth downloading the free action for mugs at PSDCovers and see if it works on CS2. If the code the action uses is compatible with CS2 it will do the job.

I emailed PSDCovers and they said they work from CS4 upwards, most work in CS3 though but all fail in CS2 as they changed how they did actions or something so will try and get a copy off ebay

As a tip for Photoshop actions, if you go from Adobe Bridge, and goto tools>Photoshop>Image Processor, you can set PS to take a whole directory of images, run an action on them, and resave them a new folder in a few filetypes, and can convert the workspace to sRGB

I just tried the Techcurl tool again out of curiosity and the quality is still unuseable - that's a shame as I loved that tool.
I will email them now and find out whats going on - although it's quite obvious.

Re: Is there a programme that i can use to show what the mugs will look like before print
I've managed to get the action script to work but am having trouble with getting my designs to come out right! My understanding is you need to get your design to fit inside the middle big box? I've copied designs from corel and you get the white background which you can see on the mug. Tried using a png with transparent background but then did transform>scale and it selects a big box around the image like it has a background. What does everyone else do?

Hi Lianne,
I have cs4. This is what I do using PSD Mug 006.
Open PS but do not open a new doc.
Click on Step 1 in the action list & run (triangle symbol)

This creates this blank template:

Open your mug picture in PS, select all, copy, then paste into the template doc (If I'm using Corel Draw I save file and open in PS)
adjust the imported pic to size to template.

Click on Step 2 in the action list & run
And here's the finished mug:

Hope that helps,
Karen

Hi Thanks Karen, Do you have to use solid colours for the whole design or photos? I tried to save some text and some clipart as a png so the white background was transparent as the mug is white and it goes wrong. See pics below

Hi Lianne,
I have always used a non-transparent png.
Just tried a transparent png - mug has a black background.
Do you have this black image after step 1? When I paste the png it sits on top of the black image, & therefore the black background shows through.

Just wondering if you are deleting any of the layers after step 1 so that the background looks white? Step 2 requires some of these original layers in order to render properly.
I would create a png with a white background. Just paste your png after step1. If you do it without touching the layers menu it should paste as the second layer down.

You can switch off the PSD layer (click in the eye) so that the PSD logo isn't rendered.
