Re: Ricoh will not start :(

Post by NikGrey »

We had a thunder storm yesterday so I turned off my Sub Ricoh (even though I have it protected with a UPS) - now it will not start.

The Blue light is on but no matter how long I hold the button it will not start - I have work to do :(

I dint want to cut the power as it will waste ink again..

What to do ?

It is in warranty so now might be the time to see if the warranty is honoured....

I dont see why, I turned them both off (I have 2 of these printers) well before the storm and they are protected by UPS anyway - But I see where you are coming from.

Just called BMS and emailed the same thing so only time will tell.

I have work building up, and people coming over to pay for things and discuss more work so seeing me having a broken down major part of my operation is something I am going to try to cover up somehow.

Turning it off is a lot different to unplugging it.

Turning something off in a storm is no protection if there is a power line hit and a UPS wont stop the surge either. I speak from experience we used to sell UPS's.

If you haven't already been asked the office will need to know your Ricoh serial number and the batch numbers of the cartridges as a matter of course. If you are able to take a photo of the front panel that would be useful to see what the LCD panel says. Presumably you have already checked your control panel to see if the computer sees the printer and the status is 'ready' or not? If the blue light is on then this normally signals the printer is ready.

The front panel is not giving anything away.
Also, the printer status is 'In Use' as I sent a job to it.

Just sent the numbers via email.

If the machine is connected to the pc and not the mac , you have to restart the printer spool on the pc,unsure what it actually does on the Mac, but sure someone on here will be able to help on which service on the Mac, bongour comes to mind .
