Re: silicone sheet cleaning

Post by Oaten »

Hi All,

I keep getting the issue of my silicone sheet picking up colour from my transfers and then transferring on to other prints. What's the best way to clean the silicone sheet or the best way to avoid it even transferring to the silicone sheet?

This is a pain in my ass now that I have a large order to get done today :(

Thanks in advance

Does your paper not fully cover the item being pressed? I would have though that protects against ink transfer.

How does it transfer through the paper and design that is fully wrapped though? Membranes will discolour.

I think it may be where I've transfered if for to long. It's just doing my head in now as it's cocking up other prints.

Are you definitely using silicon sheets?

I use mine all the time and never get any sub ink on them when pressing.

Personally I would stop what you are doing, clean the top sheet, the bottom sheet and the platen. Once you know everything is spotless and that you are using silicon then you should be good to run and run without needing to clean each time.

I use Greaseproof paper.

I found that when I was using a test aluminium Water Bottle the previous sublimated area was transferring to my silicone sheet - so this cheap paper has been saving the day for me.

It's a constant learning curve.

.. BUT that was when I was using a Mouse Mat - my new shiny white Silicone sheet arrived today but been unable to try is due to my current technical issue :(

my sheet picks up color, but never transfers it to another case. I've never seen sub ink go through sub paper into the substrate. you can try a non stick baking pad or kraft paper
