Hi,
I am still new to all of this, so please bear with me.
I am trying to create a new profile for my sub inks, paper, substrate and printer.
My main problem is how do I figure out total ink limit and individual channel ink limit?
I am running a dual CMYK ink setup and my paper is getting drenched with ink when I print an image.
I'm using Wasatch RIP and Mimaki JV33.
Any advice?
Thanks.
Ink profiling
Re: Ink profiling
Do Wasatch have support? as I don't think there's any Wasatch users on the forum.
There are some more knowledgeable Wasatch users on t-shirtforums.com though

Re: Ink profiling
It does, but support ran out. I got most of the stuff second-hand. But I'll try asking t-shirtforums.com.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Ink profiling
When you print out the test chart you will see, your ink limits for for each channel and then you look for the lowest one which does not pool and set the number below that one for each curve with total ink limits you need to look at the black boxes at the top to see which is not pooling with ink usually around 270-300 for total.
Once you have ink limits then reprint and look for pooling again, and sometimes again
You will also need an i1 to do the linearization and generate the curve, and i1 profiler or another icc generating app to finish off the colours.

Re: Ink profiling
Thank you for your response. I have done what you said. I do have an i1 to do the linearization, but that part bewilders me. I have scanned in the linearization chart and it shows the color curves for CMYK. After my first scan for linearization, CMK channels have a slight curve, where as the Y channel has a large curve. According to the document, it says that I should reduce each ink channel until the curves are closest to the linear line. I have reduced each channel, but the curves do no straighten out and each channel is around 80%. My total ink limit is 225%.
