Really sorry to hear this, there seems to be more and more of the 'C' word these days.. We have all been affected in some way by this and we need to get it sorted.

My missus was told 5 mins before she was due to go in for an operation that it was the 'C' word - I was there, and nobody had mentioned it until then.. it turned out ok but for a couple of hours our lives had changed.. I am feeling for you - lets hope its not as bad as you probably think.

Fingers crossed for you young man, and I am sure I speak for all of us.

Sorry to hear that. I know its easy to say but try and remain positive. A lump could be anything but our minds always verge towards thinking the worst possible outcome.

Stay positive bud, It probably wont be but even if it is the big 'C'... it is beatable. My girlfriend was told she had a tumor on her 'adrenal gland' (controls adrenaline) a week before we were heading out to Bali for my sisters wedding, Same symptoms as yourself, Something stuck in throat, feeling energetic then really tired, blood pressure through the roof. She eventually went to Docs who put it down to 'Hayfever', Another doctor was looking through her files Immediately ordered scans to be done. She was not allowed to fly or the Gland could have popped. Docs removed the gland with keyhole surgery and she all is better, The best part is she never gets hangover now lol. We went on to drive around the whole of Australia and travel Asia for 2 1/2 years.

So Stay positive mate and stay strong whatever it is, This is vital to getting through it and helping with a quick recovery.

Thinking of you.. and can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling right now.. but one thing I will say, it could be down to your thyroids even lymph nodes.. and I know it's not something that anyone wants to think of but cancer can be beaten.. and is a lot of the time if caught early enough.. my mum has beaten cancer a few times now and what ever you are told, positivity is the greatest healer.. even though I am sure right now you probably don't feel it..

John,

I hope it's not Cancer! (why people people call it Big C or any other name other than what it is! is because they don't want to face up to it) but things have come on a long way with treatment over the years.

If it's not good news that gives you time to put your house in order and go out fighting along with even trying to beat the dreaded condition!

If it's good news! than still put your house in order and have a Fecking Good time!

Before people try and shoot me down! within the last 12 months I've lost 6 close family members 4 of which had cancer with one being my Nan, My dad is a diabetic and is only 48 and has had it for 16 years with time running out because of how the condition affects all of his body but he carries on each day fighting the condition with a can do outlook & it won't take me without a fight!

So really it's a case of good news carry on! and if it's a case of bad news carry on but do it in style!

Keep positive, until the results of the biopsy are back, just keep positive.

thyroid issues really suck, my hubby has a very underactive thyroid, and is currently on 300mg thyroxine a day and its still not working - we found out taking them at night helps, and also NOT eating a high fibre diet - people still look at him as if he is some kind of a pig, as he has put on so much weight, eventually we are told it will settle down, only found out about taking the tablets at night, and avoiding a high fibre diet from radio 4 !!!! our doctors are useless

As children we all look up to our Mum,Dad,Nan,Grandads as role models but I and my twin sisters along with my dad's other close family members and theres 4 brothers and a sister with over 80 over siblings watched him give the eulogy for his Mum and our Nan standing tall in front of us all fighting back the tears to do her proud knowing what he's going through with him also being the baby of his family say goodbye with the same spirit & fight which our Nan & his Mum did fighting her condition.

So in a nutshell what I have learned is keep fighting to the end and no matter what happens life goes on within us from the people that brought us into this world along with the people who brought our parents into this world to make us what we are!

I know exactly where you are coming from. Not every lump we tend to find in our bodies turns out to be a baddy!.... we sometimes tend to almost convince ourselves that it is when we find one. I had squamous cell carcinoma back in 2010. Had my tongue and the floor of my mouth removed. Diagnosed in July .. had operation in October. I have regular check ups and on several occasions they have found new growths which after biopsies have turned out to be nothing more than the lymph nodes swelling as they also took part of my neck away during the op. Dave271069 can vouch for all this. It can be very worrying but if you think positive and even if the outcome is a bad one, the impact on the news is not nearly half as bad. A lot of people say it changes your life for the worst and everything goes down hill from there on in.... it doesn't... Im living proof of that... although Im due in for more surgery any day now for correction procedures (last year I was in to have my jaw replaced as the radiotherapy killed it), I'm positive about what the outcome will be and once thats over I can get on with my life again. Chin up mate! If it happens there is nothing you can do about it.... but there is a lot the doctors can!
