glass etching with air eraser any one tried it?

As the title says I really want to get into glass etching and I was about to buy a cameo cutter with the etching kit from MDP then the etchall cream has gone out of stock.
I then looked at the air eraser ( the proper compressor ones) just wondered if any one has tried it, or even seen results from this method and if so how do the results compare with the etching creams, I mainly want to do glasses and vases.

ive just started out experimenting with the cream, for the cost i think its a good way to go, never tried the compressor one so will watch this thread to see if anyone gives us examples.

I used to do this in a blasting cabinet of the suction type and it was a good finish if you used very fine grit at low pressure,the equipment you are referring to will probably have ceramic nozzle which the grit will wear away very quick and it could cost you more in nozzles than the cream would,in the cabinet i always used tungsten nozzles which are not available for these small kits.

The air erasers do seem to have carbide tips, do you think they would give a similar finish as the cream? I have seen some tutorials on you tube for the creams and the finish is very patchy. I don't want to go down the route of buying the equipment then getting some sort of box made to do it in If I am not going to get a better finish.

I've had a look at the kit your talking about and I think not only the nozzle will wear but the gun will probably wear were the pot feeds the grit to the nozzle,as regards the cream being patchy it was probably not put on evenly.

Many Thanks for the advice Reg, cant afford to waste money at the minute, and the cost of the sand set up would be a lot more expensive than the cream! I have seen great results on you tube with etchall cream, that is out of stock at the min at MDP and Yolo are saying its been discontinued in the uk.
Wouldn't that be just typical of a product that actually works!
I have seen some really bad results with the Armour etch on you tube ( untill I saw Arko's wonderful mirrors on the other etching posts) I guess its down to technique.

Thanks Again Reg, I was wrong with the air eraser costing more that bottle has just cost me more than the eraser would lol. Bought that and it came up with last one at the point of paying so I might have got that just in time!
Hopefully I will get a good result with it.

That bottle is twice the size of the one I got which cost 19 quid, I've done quite alot with it and still have a quarter of a bottle after 4 years so depend how much you do it'll probably last a lot longer than that gun.

Thanks for all the advice Reg, The only reason I looked at the sand etching was because that etchall was not in stock anywhere, and that one you directed me to on e bay hadn't come up when I had looked. just hope I can get a good result with it.
