Ricoh SG3110DN colour issue

Hi

I am setting up a new Ricoh SG3110DN images seem to print great but if I type text and select colour the colour of the text is not coming out correctly

Example I selected pink text but it prints light purple colour, yet the pink in the photo prints fine.

I am using
Ricoh SG3110DN
Sawgrass Sublijet R ink
Sawgrass trupix paper
CorelDraw X6
Powerdriver-v4 SG3110DN (EU)

I have setup all the settings in CorelDraw following the sawgrass guide for colour management etc

I had an email back from Sawgrass supporting "The pink is not coming out correctly as the RGB value is out of gamut" and to print off a load of colour charts and press them on to metal and use that as a guide to select right colour code in furture.

I am wrong in thinking I thought that was why I had to install powerdriver and change all the settings in CorelDraw for colour management

This week I have been working on a 'Purple' colour for a project - I have been making blocks of different 'Purples' added the code to them in white, added an asterix if they were IN gamut and printing them onto mugs in order to be in a position to select the best shade for my purposes.

I have found that if I use different paper settings I am getting different colours - 'Postcard - High Quality' gives me the best colours.

My point is - There are far too many variables to be able to say "This and that will work" and "This will not".

The only way that I have found to get it right is to keep testing, I'm using a lot of ink in the process.

Sawgrass sent me a load of colour charts they had made and said print them on to metal sheets and use for reference.

I've got some Ipad cases left as I don't sell them now so I was going to shrink the charts down to fit 4 charts on a metal sheet

The ICC you are using will have been made with a certain sublimation paper, and specific settings for the media type and print quality ... if you print with any of these different from what the profile was created for then the results will not be as spot on as they should be.
Equally, the profile will have been made from charts printed to a specific substrate - if the substrate you are pressing to is different it will also affect the final colour.

To minimise these variables, this is why we make our own profiles, for different types of substrates. We then don't end up having to waste ink, papers, and blanks on testing colours.

I only ever use Sawgrass trupix paper with sawgrass ink, never had any problems with my epsons but thought i'd get a Richoh wish I never bothered now haha

I old print phone cases so printing test charts should be fine i'll hav a look at it on monday

What is the point of official ink if you need print charts for reference? You could do that with any ink and just use that without icc or power driver.

yes... but if printed charts would be good enough then every bugger would have 40 printed A4 charts on the wall for reference answer from sawgrass was hugely not satisfactory...

that's what I thought paul when I read the answer, how can the expect me to keep referring to a colour chart everytime I need to print

The Powerdriver should be taking care of all of this. You're paying a premium for 'supported' inks that should work out of the box providing you have the icc profile/powerdriver installed etc.

I really don't think it's a satisfactory answer either and would be talking to my supplier as well.
