Justin, you have the same press as me so by heating the bottom of the mug first will increase your mug count by one.. Am I being silly by trying to ensure my mug counter is accurate ?
I realise the counter can be reset but I was hoping to see how many mugs I could make before the blanket started to degrade..
going by your method I could just half the number displayed to get the figure of completed mugs.
I would be wondering what I was talking about if I were still using a Chinese press so I will explain: the Adkins mug presses (and probably others) have a counter which increments each time the press is closed.

Re: Mugs - black print faded at the bottom
In theory yes Nik, it will increase...unless you don't pull the handle far enough to start the timer
Sometimes that works, other times you could pop something in-between to stop the handle from coming up but keep the blanket on the mug (alu water bottles work well) but to be honest I don't really worry about the count at all (didn't know it could be reset)
when i get a chance I'll look to see if there's a better fix to help this....although that's more your territory so put your thinking cap on! lol.
