Unfortunately eBay make up their own rules and we are stuck with them, and most of the those selling on eBay know that and that is why they get away with flouting the laws of the land!!

I sent a very good Mac G5 case to a customer last week, it arrived today damaged - badly damaged (these cases are strong).. I am going to have to refund the buyer - its not his fault.. i will be out of pocket but thats the way it is.

I have filed a report to the courier for compensation but am not holding my breath.

fact is, as a seller I dont have a leg to stand on - if I am awkward ebay will issue a refund and I will get back feedback and ruin my 100% record earned over 12 years :(

These problems of not getting the return postage paid for faulty goods from some ebay sellers, should be solved later in the year when ebay makes all business sellers do ebays own returns process.

Just hope they get it cheaper than the £4.99 they have it at now, as most of mine are letters and large letter rates.

When it comes to the new returns policy for faulty goods it’s not just faulty it also covers not as described!

And not as described in eBay’s eyes is everything a buyeropens a case for which eBay automatically considers the seller did somethingwrong and gets a black mark against where they will side with the buyer!

As a seller if you wish to sell on eBay means you willalways be in the wrong if a buyer opens a case or marks you as being not a 100%happy with the purchase.

It doesnt matter if you put any of that in your listing ebay will and do still refund and rule against you for personalised items, to sell on their site you agree to this in the T & Cs.

Agreed unless you appeal to eBay that they are in the wrong where they automatcally refund the buyer before you get the item back which they do 90% of the time and then they refund you all your costs and payment by accepting your appeal and hide their mistake.

This is exactly why I am leaning towards selling on other sites, there is no doubt ebay has the largest market, but as a seller everything is against you, its great for buyers but not so great for sellers.

For sellers that play by the rules and only charge postage at cost, adding the 10% fvf on postage as well as fvf on the item is just greed in my eyes.

Has anyone tried ebid as a seller? The market is smaller but sellers fee's are much lower £49 to become a lifetime seller+ and only 3% fvf looks quite appealing over ebay to me.
