Re: Am I right in Thinking?

Post by DebbieS »

Hello,

I thought I had made the decision to buy the Ricoh 7100 and then started reading some of these threads and confused myself some more and thought perhaps the Epson 1500 is better.

I then read the Sticky at the top titled "Which Printer" and am I right in thinking the Epson produces better quality prints but when it comes to sublimation it is quite hard to tell the difference?

I bought an Epson 1400 in a second hand package, eventually got it working on normal ink cartridges but can not get it working with the CISS, it was left not working for a while. I have been advised I would be better off investing in a new Ricoh rather than buying a new CISS and the printer still not work and then the new CISS would be useless with a new printer.

I am going round in circles, please help!

Thank you.

I really wouldn't overthink this, the 7100 is a great printer. I have both printers you've mentioned and would take the Ricohs overall every time for day to day sublimation.

Sad to say I am the opposite I prefer the Epsons. I have both 1400 and 1500, and they are workhorses and I find that they work no problem with Ciss.

My 1500 worked very well with a CIS but the 7100 is a much neater unit, keeping the paper dust free which is a bonus for me, no occasional paper issues etc. But to be fair both printers have their pluses and minuses, I just think anyone starting out with a Ricoh can't go far wrong.....if only they'd had them in my day! lol.
