Re: Issue with Epson 7890 using sawgrass inks

Is anyone else using an epson 7890 with sawgrass inks?

I'm having a problem with printing red, it's sublimating orange. Has anyone else had this issue? I've had a custom ICC profile done so I can't see it being that. I've tried printing on different blanks but it still looks orange.

Really need to get this sorted, any help would be appreciated.

Is you nozzle check full?
I would try again with the profile as it doesn't make sense, the profile should compensate for any colour problems the printer has. The only explanation is that there's something changed in the printer/inks to give a different from when the profile was made to now.

I'll check the printer in the morning but the nozzle checks seem fine. What I don't get is how the print looks really red but sublimates orange.

i was wondering if converting the printer from epson inks to sublijet inks has created a problem. When I do sublimate with a print there is no ink missing on the blank once it's pressed. That makes me think that hasn't caused an issue.

Are you 100% sure that all of the original Epson inks were cleared out before you had the profile made, I'm guessing there were still some mixed in, and this would explain the colour shifting and the profile no longer working.

Done some test prints this morning and this is what I got. The red is redder in the profile that came with the inks but it's still a bit washed out, is that down to the fabric or the profile?

Did you flush out the Epson inks with cleaning fluid, or just move straight to the sublimation inks? If the latter then it's not easy to know when the standard pigment inks have gone and you have 100% sublimation inks.

Yeah, flushed with cleaning carts. If there was some original ink left, would it now show on the blank as patches. I've run quite a bit of in through the printer so I would of thought any possible ink left would have past through now.

Most likely all gone now, but may have still been some old ink/cleaning fluid in the lines when you did the test charts for Paul.
