Re: A3 Brother
I was thinking... Had a problem when i was setting up my a3 brother...
ink flowed for 2-3 prints then nothing. Blank. So no nizzle problem az there would be somethin on paper but it was white, blank like yours. I noticed there is no enough gravity for ink so i had to take all rubber bangs out. I know there are two in each and one of them is for ink but once i removed both of them of each cart i process with head clean to charge more ink and since then touch wood

Re: A3 Brother
yeah. more flow for the air so bigger pressure is pushing ink to the tubes.

Re: A3 Brother
Guys, I mentioned this in a post when someone talked about the Brother and mentioned the large cartridges.
I can't remember which thread I posted on, but what I said was that the big refillable cartridges off ebay come with a set of 4 little things that looks like tiny funnels, joined wide end to wide end.
The reason the silicone colour coded bungs are in 2 parts, is that the WIDE one is for refilling and the NARROW one is left OPEN when you use the cartridge.
The cartridges come with 4 little clear double funnel looking things. You put the 4 little clear double funnel looking things in the holes, because they have FILTER MATERIAL inside them to filter out solids from the air.
I've had so many people asking me what those 4 things are, because the leaflet that comes with the cartridges doesn;t mentions them and a lot of people just chuck them out.
Brothers will often clog using pigment ink, but on Dye Sub or ordinary Dye printing inks, it is pretty rare. I sometimes leave my brother 6510 SUB printers for weeks at a time without using them. When I come back, a nozzle check 'might' show a couple of blanks, but often it just prints perfectly. Same model with pigment ink needs cleaning before every print job.

Re: A3 Brother
...yes Ross, but leaving both of the rubber bungs out in refill carts and CISS systems can help improve ink flow.
Also, I'd be interesting in what pigment inks you are using if your printers don't work as well with them, as sublimation ink particles are bigger than the ones in pigment inks, so your printer in theory should have a bigger problem with them.

Re: A3 Brother
I think I might just be using dye sub inks with very, very fine particles. Some Epson print heads have very fine nozzles and a variable droplet size capability. I suspect the Epson dye sub ink might be formulated for fine nozzles. The Brother printers possibly use a slightly less sophisticated technology. If that is still the case, it might explain why the Brother nozzles never seem to clog.
Another explanation could just be the auto maintenance function built into the Brother inkjets, which would help keep good quality ink flowing, but let the cheap and nasty pigment ink have the odd clogged nozzle.
The pigment ink is one of the ebay generics for epson.
