Above is a hand drawn cartoon by Mark Bardsley,a very talented young chap who offered a few picture for the cat rescue I support.I know you guys bang on about ICC profile, photoshop etc but I started by buying a cheap ricoh printer, some sub paper from ebay, some cheap ink form china and this is what I produce,Have i just been lucky as I have read for hours on here before I even started printing mugs about colour matching, different inks, different printers,
I must say have spoken to Nik on here a few times and when he asked me what mug press I had I answered " the one with the black handle "Your thoughts on the colour images

We would need to see the original artwork for comparison to see if the colour is accurate. It's hard to tell from a photo if your printing is sharp.

How closely do your printed good look like they do in the original artwork, and how they look onscreen?

the tall black cat badge with the orange background - I am guessing the background is supposed to be red?

I agree with comparing how it looks in comparison with the original but unless the screen is calibrated it might not accurately represent the original.

It may look good on hand draw pictures but wait for digital work or gradients :)
ps. No one said is impossible to print without profile. But it all depends of your artwork and your standards.

Yes, and having a calibrated and ICC profiled monitor along with the printer ICC profile would be my recommendation to anyone taking this seriously.

That's fairly meaningless really. Your reference for how your printed product looks should be the original handdrawn/painted artwork - this is what you are aiming to match.

Well the original does have a more pinky red, whereas yours is orangey
The cats eyes are a darker, again more orangey yellow than the original
and the blue patches in the cat's fur are more pronounced/darker
