These are my first mugs, only been subing for 4 weeks. They have been done in a Halogen oven at 200 degrees for 15 mins. I have to thank DSF member Renniwano for selling it all to me and her help. The one on the left is why I have bought the oven as the deli has asked me to provide them with mugs, take away mugs and coasters to sell in there shop.

Re: first mugs
Thank you. I am hoping to put the text mugs I produce into a local garden centre. Have a lot of sayings I am going to use. Want to do some quotes as well, but not sure of copyright and the like.arko;82326 wrote:Break Time mugs looking nice and crisp!

Re: first mugs
Theres that horrible term again... copyright... what a minefield!... but its been covered quite a lot on here so you may find the info that you are looking for. As far as I know, you cannot copyright words as such, or even slogans as they appear in everyday use. Its like if I copyrighted the word "today", I would be a millionair many times over. And that would go for any other word or name. Even McDonalds cannot copyright their own name for example.

I was not looking to start that debate again. I have looked at that section and am still confused. My line of thinking is if I print " You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"
by its self no problem, but add a picture of the legend Michael Caine then I might get into bother.
Many thanks

Re: first mugs
I dont really know.... I suppose if you added a picture of him taken in public it shouldnt be a problem but if you used one taken from one of his films for example it might be a cause for concern... not too sure really.

Re: first mugs
I don't think there is a black and white answer. It is down to interpretation in some cases and a blatant copyright infringement in others but that is for another forum and another day.
Many thanks

Re: first mugs
I don't see it as a minefield, and do see it as quite black and white ...
if someone else created it, and you don't have their permission to use it, then don't.

Re: first mugs
I would have thought that is the opinion of the majority pisque. But the use of an image taken in public by Joe Blogs for example cant be copyrighted by the person in the pic, just the person taking it and then giving the rights to that pic over like a professional artist does. ..... or not?... confused .com here we go again! hahahaha.
