Re: general maintenance
Leave the printer turned on all the time, and it will perform its own maintenance routines automatically.
Wait until it tells you to replace the carts.

Re: general maintenance
I have wondered about the ink replacement routine (still on my 1st carts).
Surely if you wait until the printing stops you will have pipes full of air ? how would you purge the air in that situation.. would the Ricoh blow that air through the print head until it saw fresh ink ?

Re: general maintenance
The carts have ink in a bag inside them, so when all the ink is gone - you have an empty bag with all the ink sucked out of it. It's a closed system, no air will get in the lines.

Thank You Pisquee, Rep point awarded (as obviously I haven't given you a point since I became a member of this forum).
That's it though - as far as I can see I am unable to award another in my lifetime

Re: general maintenance
The printers suck all the ink out and once the printer feels a vacuum (because all the ink has gone from the bag) then it sends a kill signal to the chip and reports the cartridge as empty so you get to use all the ink in the cartridge. As pisquee says, the tubes are full of ink so replacing the cartridge doesn't affect the tubes.pisquee;81554 wrote:The carts have ink in a bag inside them, so when all the ink is gone - you have an empty bag with all the ink sucked out of it.
