Inks - Help needed
Re: Inks - Help needed
Can anyone advise me on this.
As explained elsewhere when I brought my sublimation set up within weeks the supplier who set it up disapeared off the face of the planet so what inks I have in my printer I dont know as I never saw any bottles. I now have to get some black as Im very low so what do I buy?? And who from?
Any help ( which in this forum is always helpful and plentiful ) would be appreciated.

Re: Inks - Help needed
Have a look at the suppliers section and you will find many suppliers who sell sublimation ink. The most popular for Epson printers (I assume this is what you have) os Artainium ink. It costs £50 +vat per 125ml but if you don't have a supported printer then you will need to get ICC profiles made.
Re: Inks - Help needed
If you don't know the make/brand of ink in your printer, then, unless you strike lucky, then whatever ink you buy to replace it will be different, and you will potentially see a shift in colour as you change from one to the other. Really you want to flush out all the old/existing ink, and replace with whatever ink you decide to go with. Make sure you at least go with an ink where you know the make and there is more than one source so you don't get stuck again in the future.

Can you explain that last sentance in Laymans terms?bms;81166 wrote:Have a look at the suppliers section and you will find many suppliers who sell sublimation ink. Re: Inks - Help needed
To be honest I was hoping not to have to flush it through, as I explained elsewhere it took an age to get the system up & running. As the black ink level is very very low I was just wanting to top up. It may be worth mentioning that the ink in the system is 18 months old as we never got it running for ages. Also if this helps the set up was brought from a guy called Mark from Morecambe who had a shop as well a website. Hes disapeared now but some others may have brought set ups from him. The Printer is an Espom B1100 and does the job well.

It comes in bottles of 125ml
Note you have a B1100 printer which is a supported printer (http://www.sawgrasseurope.com/technical ... /artainium)
The link has all the support documentation you need for this printer. You would be best advised to ensure all your ink is the same. I don't know who Mark from Morecambe is - but presumably Sawgrass do which is why he isn't trading anymore
Re: Inks - Help needed
I must be blonde as again I dont understand your last sentence? But thanks anyway.
Re: Inks - Help needed
It is 'possible'....and I only say 'possible' he was being a naughty boy regarding the Sawgrass terms of sale regarding their products. By all accounts they are quite protective and 'will' take 'action' if they find folk breaking their rules.Mugman71;81173 wrote:I must be blonde as again I dont understand your last sentence? Re: Inks - Help needed
'Supported Printer' - a printer which has somebody who makes sub inks specifically for that printer, in this case you should be able to get the ICC Profile for your printer/ink from their website.
ICC profile is just a smal file that tells your printer how to use the inks in the correct proportions.
'Sawgrass' I think are the only people in the uk who license resellers to provide Sub Inks for small format printers (Like the Ricoh).
It's quite clear you dont have 'Supported' inks otherwise you would know about it - from the price alone, but you pay for the support. You would have had help setting your printer up and getting it running - rather than taking so long to get going as you did with Mark from Morcambe.

Re: Inks - Help needed
Right, either I am not making myself very clear or we all have crossed lines. I brought the Epsom B1100 from a guy in Morecambe. He set the printer up and the CISS system and off he went leaving me his number if I had any problems. I wasnt really ready at the time so shelved it for a couple of months. When I did get around to using it was printing blank or ghost printing. Mark had disapeared including his eBay page and website. His number is dead. We actually brought two printers from him for £190 each. I shelved it again. Around a year later I tried it again, after much priming and nozzle checks and lots of cleaning its works fine. It prints nice. I am told sublimation printers should be used everyday otherwise the dry out? He filled the ink wells and left me no bottles so I dont know what ink he was using hence why I am asking here if its ok to mix without flushing through. I was told not to mix inks but as someone rightly said If I dont know what I originally had the chances of getting a match is highly unlikely.
Sawgrass I know nothing about but was going to ring them in the new year to order ink, Am I heading for trouble by phoning them? Have I got a copied file or something? This Mark character has sold a lot of sub set ups in Blackpool but they all say hes gone. All I want is some black ink! Lol. Sorry if Im sounding stupid. I am looking at moving into other sublimation stuff in January and would like to find some supplier that can offer good customer aftercare.
