Question 1 .
I have a epson sx130 and recently I moved my PC and printers etc from one room to another. Now every time I print something from photoshop my PC does not recognise the printer until I turn my printer off and on again every time I go to print something. It's not too much trouble but does bug me a little, anyone know why this happens.....

question 2
i had a Ricoh a4 sublimation printer and all the inks ran out. So I put the printer to one side and unplugged it. Now about 6 months later I'm tempted to switch back to the Ricoh , so if I bought a full set of inks do you think it will be fine, or shall I just buy a new Ricoh printer and inks. ?

thanks Dave

Hi Dave,

Did you revive the Ricoh again ? if so how did it take all those weeks of neglect, in a dark corner all alone !

dave it seems i have jinxed myself after posting this
i went to get on with some orders today and my printer wouldnt print.... basically it was the usb port not recognizing the printer.
so i think great, what to do now....
i unpack all the kit and brings it all back to my workshop back home. plug it all in and guess what?? the thing prints ports recognizing the lot.... printer is having a laugh at my expense lol
didnt need to reinstall anything or do anything so that alone was strange..
so i prints my orders get them all together then brings the lot back up to the shop,
gets to the shop and yep thats right doesnt work again!!! idk what to do now,
im thinking new comp new printer or a new job ha ha
any one with advice on this can you please let me know...
i am going to give my computer a spring clean and get it all fresh and try again...
i have all my kit back home again so will be testing it all night
the port has reconised the printer, but now when i go to print via photoshop the print button is hidden (unalbe to print)
but it is progress from the unable to locate port back at the shop...

does this sound strange or am i moving my stuff around to much?
i use a good box and polystyrene to transport printer and heat press.
laptop is just in the laptop bag tho....

You must be changing something when you move the kit otherwise there is no reason why it would not work. For example is the network name changing? I am not sure why that would make it stop working but am only trying to thing of everything.

Failing that, take a picture of your home office and stand it in front of the computer so it thinks it is still at home :-)

Send the file to print then take the usb lead out the socket and then put it back in. If this doesn't work try it again. This has happened to me a few times and normally the comp recognises the printer after a few attempts - you'll see the data light blink.

hey
thanks again guys
it is all back home and working fine again
social i will be taking a pic, can you put this on a canvas for me for the shop :P

i cleaned my laptop (it was in a serious need anyways)
i uninstalled all and reinstalled. started from the start...

i have done a few mugs and all seems back to normal, the first couple the colours was off not sure how but they got better after the 3rd mug without me changing any settings i am guessing it was just the ink re adjusting or something but i really dont know...

john i am going back down tomorrow, i will save your advice now because as much as i hope it doesnt happen i have a bad feeling it will
have you ever found out why it happens? and does it still happen?
i restarted the printer and laptop but never pulled the usb out

strange thing earlier tho,
i would have the usb for the printer connected and no power lead, i was able to print worked time and time again
plugged the power lead in and it just didnt reconise the usb and wouldnt print... and as we had the powerlead in at the shop, it is why it worked when i got home earlier as i left the lead at the shop

so fingers crossed :)
all seems to be working fine again,
ive learnt one thing over the past week. always have a back up,
so i will work on that after christmas ha ha

I presume you mean it is a powered USB hub and it wasn't the printer power lead!!!

In which case, two words... Bin it!

I asked an IT guru about powered USB hubs and he said they are a law unto themselves and the only way to increase the number of USB outlets is to fit a board inside the computer. I was having problems with hubs so decided to do just that and have never had a problem since.

I agree, Powered Hubs are a nightmare.

I am using an un-powered iHub (yes, Apple DONT make iHubs) and it is perfect - I tried a few expensive powered hubs and all I had was problems.

The only thing I can think of in your case is, are you using the same USB socket each time ? sometimes if I plug the plotter into the wrong socket is is not seen (Which only ever happens after I have moved things about).
