Re: Can you gues what it is yet ?
I haven't had a chance to work on this for a while as other 'problems' have required my attention.
It will be, when I perfect the blade a 'Coaster Cutter' - this is the reason I am keen to find out what coatings are available. I already have 3mm Hardboard from another project - the idea is to eventually be able to cut out Coasters, coat them and sublimate them.
I'm not sure a 2ton Jack is strong enough yet - initial testing was promising. I need a press like for other applications (car bushes etc) so this will be multi-purpose with other plates/fittings for different jobs.
It will be all nice and 'Commercial' looking when complete with a nice paint job and accessories.
Here's the BBQ I made last year - had so many requests for me to make more but I cant find any more 1968 cylinders (nice thick walls compared to newer ones).
The base un-bolts, and with the valve still in place when closed you can stand this up so it looks like a regular gas cylinder for neat storage

That BBQ actually looks the business Nik !
To view links or images in signatures your Beer count must be 10 pints or greater. You have currently drunk 15 pints!.
Re: Can you gues what it is yet ?
Reminds me of the programme on Channel 4 about how to pay off your mortgage in a year, and the first episode where the guy was making stoves out of gas bottles and VW parts. During and after the show for a long time his website was down due to all the interest! He did indeed pay off his mortgage in the year IIRC, and is still selling the stoves here: www.hotpod.co.uk
Re: Can you gues what it is yet ?
Nik, for the cost of blank wood coasters which are already coated, is it worth it the time in going this route?
If yes, then maybe instead of looking at spray on coatings, you could try and source some thin white polymer based plastic sheeting, and cut that in the same way as your wood (so the same size) and then just glue them together. This way you're printing deep into polymer plastic, and not a thin coating which can easily be scratched off. You'd need to build some jigs to make sure that the wood and plastic line up perfectly when glued together.
