Hi, I'm Jon from the Royston area. South of Cambridge.
I'm wanting to make dye sub tiles out my own designs. I had a couple printed up for me and thought they looked great so am going to fork out for some gear and do some myself. This looks like a brilliant forum, from the week or so I've been reading various threads, so i thought I'd join.
cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon

Welcome aboard!

I am just up the road from you, I live in Huntingdon (twin town with Purgatory) and work in Cambridge. As you are discovering, this is a really useful place to be!

Thanks Arthur,
Royston isn't much better. Twinned with a hole in the ground in Belgium ;-) Huntingdon has it's nice bits (to look at anyway) doesn't it? ;-)
yes, this place is excellent.
cheers,
Jon

I always console myself that things could be worse - I could be living in St Neots ;o)

I must begrudgingly admit that there are one or two nice bits but on the whole the district council is does a pretty good job of pushing Huntingdon closer to the top of Britains Crap Towns list. Huntingdon appeared on the cover of an edition of Crap Towns a few years ago featuring a fine view of the tax offices, sadly they are, as I write, being demolished.

Still, we have the Riverside Park which despite the district councils attempts to tarmac it over and turn it into a car parks is still a jewel in the towns crown.

Hi Jon,

Welcome - I grew up in a village just off the A1198 and went to school in Bassingbourn.

Every year I come over to visit family - used to love Royston market, but as soon as Tesco opened that was the market in decline.

And Arthur I know Huntingdon very very well as my nan lived there all her life. Riverside park - brings back memories of the fun fair that used to visit there and the final stop for the annual Carnival parade.

I live about 15 mins walk from Bassingbourn village college, both my kids went there ;-)
I moved up here a bit too late for the heyday of Royston market, but yeah, the town has evidently suffered due to Tesco. More cafes than shops now, no idea how or why but there ya go. Maybe it's the coffee and cake capital of the south east. . .
Anyway, just off to Morrisons, and the charity shops of Royston, a thrill a minute, my life . . ;-)
