Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
It is a re-badged Roland.......and as you know I think my Versacamm is the dogs danglies.
If buying new ignore the following...............if secondhand then read on.................
A couple of things you need to check, what inks is this printer set up to use, genuine Roland inks or third party inks. What RIP comes with the printer, is it VersaWorks or another RIP. Will the seller buy inks to show you this printer doing what it is supposed to do..........print !!!
If it requires print heads and you can buy the printer cheap enough then it might be worthwhile but it all comes down to what the asking price is and your budget. Print heads are around £500 each.
As for being better than a BN20...........well the BN20 has one thing over the Cadet........it prints white (assuming it's a new one) however it has one 'big' .........well actually 'small' drawback............it's only a 20 inch wide bed. So if you look at what you want to do with it and the white is more important than the width then the choice is made for you.

Cheers..

Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
The printer has a custom firmware, but you can flash a roland firmware over the top to make them back into a Versacamm
Also they based on the much older versa range

Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
what kind of price was the Cadet? Looking for a small versacamm or cadet myself at the mo
Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
Dave can supply the price of this one if he chooses but for guidance a secondhand Versacamm SP300i will go for around £4000-£5000.......the upper price being for one that's been run on a Roland service contract.phoenixalpha;79593 wrote:what kind of price was the Cadet? Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
Due to the time of year and struggling to raise the cash, this cadet is still available it's going for £3700 and it looks a bargain, it comes with PC, and software.
Happy to give you link if required but it's not hard to find on the usual selling sites....

Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
If you search on ebay for "Uniform Cadet Printer" it shows the one that Dave is talking about, but the next auction lot down is for another one that is currently at £2500 and claims to still be on a maintenance service contract.

Re: Uniform Cadet (Roland Versacamm)
I was so tempted to rob a bank simon to get that cadet as it was only up the road. Couldn't convince the wife to lend me the cash as she didn't think I could get enough work to pay her back in the short term. So looks like I will still be using yourself for my Xmas and near future graphics for now.
