Re: Cup and Saucer?

Post by AdamB »

Hi all,

I have been asked if I can do some 'posh' cups and saucers for someone - is there such a thing that can be done in a 'standard' press ?

I know that the saucer will be white but I will need to 'cook' the saucer and place a design on them.

I did a quick google and found some American sites, but none over here ................... ?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

We have saucers for our espresso mugs, but they aren't coated for sublimation printing (although you could apply a spray if you wanted), but not sure how you would press an image into them though - you might need a plate press attachment and some ingenuity! What type of mug are you looking for?

Hi Martin,

thanks for the reply - really appreciated.

I don't think I'll do anything with the saucers - they'll just be an accompaniment to the cup which will have a design on.

Ref the 'cup' - I have done a couple of mugs for a guy who has his own business but he has some 'high class' clients so wanted to leave a set of cups and saucers for them after work is complete in nice presentation boxes.

Have you any suggestions reference the types of cup you can offer ............... again, it's really got to be a cup - not a mug (can you get sublimation cups with straight sides?).

?

Many thanks

Martin does a version a cup and saucer on his site. I know the Stirling cup and saucer can be found now and then. It can also be fairly easy to match a saucer from elsewhere to a subli cup not part of a set. Most of these might have problems in your standard press though.

Can you expand on the difference between a "cup" and a "mug"?

Andrew: many thanks for your reply - yes, I was thinking that 'cups' may be a problem in a standard press also.

Martin: This would be my impression of a cup and saucer,

Thanks Martin, I was looking at them last night on my web travels.

Question: Do the cups come supplied with saucers if the mug is purchased - or does the cup and saucer need to be purchased seperatly?

I also notcied the need for an extra mug wrap (very informative description).

You need to buy them separately. I asked about the cup and saucer yesterday before you posted as I might need some as well. In fact I have had a request for 3 different styles of cup and saucer just to make things more complicated.
