I'm about to sell my 1500 printer so that might be an option for you but buying the CIS/Inks is a big chunk so might be better option for you to buy the printer new at the same time for better warranty. 1500 is excellent and a big step up form the previous models but not a patch on the Ricoh 7100 for ease of use :-0

Justin, can I ask that while the ease of use is a big thing for most people, how does the print quality compare? We had problems with our Ricoh and the vector images with solid blocks of colour we were printing, where as upgrading to the Epson 4015 showed a huge improvement in quality, for us at least.

This was my big concern moving over from a 6 colour Epson. I was concerned about gradients and skin tones etc. Whilst the initial paper print doesn't appear quite as good as with the Epson there is little if any difference with the final printed product and I'm more than happy with the result. I do a lot of vector graphics which have blocks of colour and it's absolutely fine. Paper handling/storage is easier, overall footprint easier to live with, speed of print is better, no blockages or head cleans.

Ye to be fair, I think we were just unlucky with our Ricoh SG3110dn and it developed a fault over time, which happened to be particularly noticeable on solid colours. It has kind of scared me off the Ricohs tho!! :frown:

someone just got a bargain on ebay!! £330 for an epson 1500 with visi sub system, apparently brand new in box! shame it wasn't me! :frown: was it someone here who got it?! :rolleyes:

could you tell me if it is possible to cover the cost of the printer by printing mugs with the first set of inks due to the amount used to fill the ink tubes? Also i cant find anywhere on the forum an example of something printed with the ricoh sg3110dn could somebody provide an image of something theyve printed please so i can see the brightness and quality of image that can be obtained. I had some really sharp images with my old epson s22 although i had more misprints than good ones...

Yes you can cover the cost of the printer by printing mugs with the first set of cartridges. Clearly this depends on the selling price compared to cost of such mugs, but if your profit was £3.60 per mug then you only have to make and sell 100 mugs to cover the cost of the printer and inks! Image quality is photographic and vibrant but end quality will depend on paper and quality of coating on your substrates as not all mugs produce the same quality image.

I already claimed back the cost of my Subli Ricoh just from Word of Mouth, with the equipment I bought initially I wouldn't dare to even offer them at cost price - I made a costly Noob mistake but learned my lesson.

Don't worry - you will use more than the advertised 25% of ink during the initial charge (I was down to 67% on colours but not so much on black - 73% left I think) but these things use Ink sparingly - honestly, I was dubious too but it is a fact.

You made a good choice in printer and supplier.
