Hi guys,

Do you know any good RiP software to have a full control of the ink usage'?

Thanks!

On my printer I can increase or reduce the ink it throws down. An Epson 7600. I assume as you are talking RIP you are not using A4 printers.

No, it´s for an Epson 4900. I looked in the manual book, but can´t find anything. Of course there are draft mode, normal mode, etc... But I need more control over that.

The amount of ink is controlled by the print driver, but is normally controlled by the media/paper setting you select - if you select a plain paper, it is going to put a lot less ink down than if you selected matte archival paper for instance. I think there are advanced media/ink settings in there too, to make your own presets, but I've never bothered to do that, both our pigment and sublimation printers are set to enhanced matte, and that gives us very good results (with our own custom ICCs) for all our print work. Buying inks in litres for wide format makes them so cheap per ml that my main concern is getting the best print quality we can, not trying to cut down on ink usage to save a fraction of a penny.

Hi Pisquee,

Is not a question of cutting down costs. I had problems in the past because my previous printer used too much ink, so you could see black spots made by the printer rollers. Sometimes, you even could see bubbles of ink after sublimating because the ink wasn´t absorved. I will try different media/paper settings as you say.

Thanks for your answer.

In that moment, I was using Ink Tec sublinova and 3D film.
