Help using iphone template, also cut template from image

I'm looking to use a template,for example of an iphone 4, from the link Paul has posted http://www.pressiton.co.uk/freebies-.html and cut the template out of an image, leaving the image perfectly layered? over the template of the iphone 4.

I'm not much good with photoshop...
This is the problem im having - Open a blank page, open an image and the iphone template, the template then expands to the size of the document, even though it was sized to iphone 4 dimensions when opened on its own. Why is this happening? lol.

Is there any way to apply colour to the template so it's easier to see?

Also, any idea on how to layer an image on to the template, cut, layer, place? no idea on the correct terminology to explain what i'm after.

when you open a empty document, make sure its set to 300DPI not 72. Then template should mach it. But why you open new document any way??

open template ONLY.
paste your image.
drag the image layer to the bottom in layer window.
