3D machines and their uses

Not boring at all Ben and thank you for explaining in more detail. I have a few questions though.

Firslty, are the machines designed just for smart phone cases? Presumably they are interchangeable jigs between each model?

Will they work with other 3D cases? I appreciate that you are selling the best cases you can find, but I am just making sure my options are open. I had my fingers burnt many moons ago where I was stuck with one supplier of DTG white ink. It was a nightmare! My particular interest is not in retail but supplying retail. Knowing my customers bottom line may well come above the quality

Also, do you have a unit cost to produce 1 case including materials?

Obviously no need to factor labour as that is all subjective. I will just assume that the mini can do 10-15 an hour and the b4 can do 25-30

Other 3d cases will potentially work, we would obviously still need to supply film, the nests are interchangeable but in order to really get the cases to print properly you would need a nest designed specifically for your case, we can assist with that as we design all our own nests in house. Moving forward we can assist with new products other than cases.
And with enough demand we may be able to produce custom tooling for example for Wii remotes or other types of cases.

Our published prices are £3.40 per case and £1.30 for film, ink costs are about £0.08. Total £4.78

The CASE-iD 3C can produce up to 50 cases per hour, its takes just over 3 minutes for 3 cases,

The CASE-iD MiniPress is 15 per hour, it takes just under 4 minutes per case.

One last thing, will the film run through a Ricoh or would I need a different printer? I do know that potentially wide format are slightly cheaper, but just curious about this?

The Film works with Ricoh printers, but the GX7000 upwards give better results over the 3110.

Are the films available on wide format rolls (24" and 44") what length rolls are available, and what is the pricing?

At present we have 400mm x 40m rolls, we also have a machine on site for sheeting in various sizes.

Just remembered an item I have seen as a blank for 3d printing - computer mouse. Just a pity it's a declining product. There must be something else worthwhile creating as a blank though.

Hi Andrew, there are plenty of other blanks out there, the issue is none of them are really high value items, they are like hairbrushes and trays,

We can really produce anything though and because of the quality of the plastic and the coating, with the right tooling you could produce personalised housing for almost anything.

Hi Ben, I've been looking into getting a particular item made for 3D sublimation but tooling was £8k+, can you offer this service?

How well does the film allow you to print onto curved surfaces? At what point would creases or deformities in the print occur. I know many struggle with corners on phonecases with the paper version but does film allow for a better print. Just not sure how much it distorts when stretching on curved or rounded surfaces.

Can you post a list of what blanks are currently available as blanks from stock, or do it just need to hunt for polymer based plastic products on the market that look suitable and give them a go?
