Update!

thanks for all the advice !

Spent 2.5k today on everything I need so it's all getting real.

Got the majority of my stuff from BMS inc A4 Rioch printer.

Press wise I went with the stahl hotronix auto open clam press 40 x 40 - anyone one got one on here? Bought it from target transfers who sorted out delivery for tomorrow which was impressive.

Im still thinking of going sublideck for 3d big outlay I know but my thoughts are if it doesn't work out then I can sell it. There are never any 2nd hand machines going so I'm hoping that's a sign of profitability. Also there are no owner reviews? Could that be that the owners don't want to let the whole world come in and get a piece of their action ....I know it could be that no-one is buying them :)

what a decision!

proper 3D film machines will literally print money for you, thats why you see people selling cases at £15+ and you can sell them all day long and have a quality finish where the sub 1k machines are just not up to the task and are more a hit and miss press tech at best but good for mugs though if you bake them long enough.

3D pressing is like Calvin peeing, will become a race to the bottom by the end of this year.

I agree with hyraxx here

I have been looking at 3D printing for sometime now and I know it would sell well with my customers. But as they all deal in bulk I would have to have something that can produce a decent amount of covers per hour.

Problem is the better machines are obviously a lot more expensive. Also, personally I do not think there are enough phone case models available yet.

Like Hyraxx says, the market is still relatively new, but when this changes so will the profit margins.

In actual fact look at the below prices I have just had from the Trade only website. Company advertising is Snap Products.

Price: 100pcs - £0.85 / 250pcs - £0.54 / 500pcs - £0.48 / 1000pcs - £0.46 / 2000 - £0.42 / 5000 - £0.41

looks like the market is pretty close to the bottom anyway :-)

Have to disagree here. We have one customer printing 100s of cases using the small 3D machine we offer. Admittedly most customers a dabbling with 3D but the volumes are possible. The critical part is getting the puck hot and then the cycle times are around 6 minutes - a cheap JML oven will get the pucks hot and then you're ready with another set as soon as the first set comes out of the vacuum machine.
