Glow in dark mugs

Glow in the dark mugs do work, but it's an odd effect that you may not be expecting.

Basically, you're printing over a luminescent panel that has a greenish/off-white colour to it. Only areas that have no print will glow - so, if you're printing a full wrap photo with no "white" areas, forget anything glowing.

It works reasonably well for logos but, therein lies the problem. What business dishes up mugs to be used in the dark?

The mugs glow the best when first subjected to a lot of light, and then placed in an area of no light. If it's regular light fading to a mild or low-light (such as when someone turns down the lights for a presentation), you don't see much of the glowing effect.

In short, it's a nice novelty, but I've hardly sold any (mainly because of how they don't really work with photos).

One thing to keep in mind is the price. The blanks cost £2.99 each (£3.50 including VAT) plus postage - which immediately makes them £2.50 more expensive than regular standard white ceramic mugs.

I'd like to offer them to my customers cheaper than I do but, at that kind of price for the blank, you don't have room to manoeuvre. This also prevents you from doing a good price on bulk orders, so that doesn't help either.

Personally, I think the HtG price is about twice what it should be - particularly given that the mug is non-dishwasher.

I've been looking on chinese/Indian manufacturers websites, and they come in at the £2.50 mark from them

Will need to look a bit further, but got a layout to design just now
