Re: Mug print problem

Hi, Sorry for what you will think is a dumb question. Just started with a mug kit from BMS and first couple of mugs not too bad. snow, using a blue zigzag pattern, the bottom 2 cms of the design is turning purple. I have the settings on 300 degrees for 120 seconds. Am I too high, too low Not long enough time, too long. I really am at the starting point and having watched as many videos as I can find they don't really answer my questions. I hope to find a day course or something but want to do a few more mugs without wasting too many. Thankyou.

300 degrees seems very high to me but I have only just started doing mugs myself. On the BMS website for their mugs they recommend 180 degrees for 3 minutes. Here is a link: http://www.printerowners.co.uk/sublimat ... n-mugs.htm

Hi, I did read that but my mug press goes to a minimum of 200 degrees and going down it hits 200 then shoots back to 350. so the range is 200 - 350. My idea was perhaps go middle of the road at 300 ish. And two different types of blanket? My mind is in a mess. There war no instructions with it, just instructions for a flat bed press. How are you getting on with yours tlworkwear?

Ive only had mine a little while but had no issues like that so far. I find it very strange that the minimum is 200 degrees. The only thing I can think of is that it might be in fahrenheit?? No idea though but Ive had swing presses for clothing and if I wanted to I could set the temp to 50 degrees, and the same goes for my mug press. When you say you got a mug kit from BMS does that mean the press as well? If it does then you should contact Martin, who is active on these forums for advice as I'm sure he will know what to do. good luck and hope you get it sorted.

Thankyou for the reply tlworkwear, I wondered the same but it doesn't give temp in c. or f. Just digits. Yes i bought a starter kit, its no doubt something I am doing wrong but I don't want to dash along wasting all the mugs. Thanks again.

There should have been an A4 flyer in the pack. Settings you need are (1) 230, (2) 338 and (3) 140

(1) is idle temp
(2) is operating temp
(3) is time.

Thanks bms, will have a go. There was no flyer, would it be possible to post me one? The mugs are great quality, I just need my print to match them. Thankyou for your help.
