hi,
i am still quite new to the world of sublimation. i am hopefully going to ask an easy question to answer rather than a stupid one.
does it matter what kind of paper you use? i have a printer using Visi-Sub Ink therefore have always purchased Visi-Sub Paper.
Cheers

Re: sublimation paper
I would recommend sticking to paper that are branded, rather than a generic cheap stack of sublimation paper from Ebay (for instance) but any decent sublimation paper will do the job. Sticking to the same brand of paper will give you consistency in your prints though. We recently ran out of our normal roll paper, and had to use another brand's sheet paper (still a good brand though) and there was a noticeable (to me) colour shift in using this other paper - red shifted a bit more towards orange.

Re: sublimation paper
Can you just explain how paper afected colour in your case?
Colour can change if media is different. It can be affected by texture of media or other things but in most cases is coz the whiteness of media. In case of sublimation paper is only temporary media that is used to transfer ink. I think paper can affect reaolution/quality of print but colours?? Please let me know.

Re: sublimation paper
As VisiSub ink is a rebrand of SubliJetR inks from Sawgrass, I wouldn't be surprised if VisiSub paper was a rebrand of TruPix from Sawgrass.Ricky;74701 wrote:hi,

Re: sublimation paper
Hi Paul,
I was surprised to see the different results. We were transferring the same artwork onto the same substrate, with the press set the same each time. Out normal paper (Coldenhove) which we use, and used when making the ICC profiles gives a good red, but on the TruePix this red shifted slightly towards orange.
Most people probably wouldn't notice (or care) but as I'd spent ages tweaking the scanned artwork in PhotoShop to be as close to the original as possible, it stood out to me that something was wrong with the press was opened, and even more so when I put the two side by side.
