I've seen this for sale from some companies at £2 +vat a sheet of A4 so I think our price is significantly more realistic. It's a specialist film and then specially coated to receive sublimation inks. Such a process is more expensive than pulping wood :)

I'm not suggesting your price isnt more reasonable, simply that the film is rediculously expensive compared to sublimation paper products.

As someone who was in engineering for 10 years I don't buy the polymer film is more expensive than wood pulp argument!

it's a much smaller market for the sublimation film than sublimation paper, so bound to be more expensive. I'm not sure how quickly that can change, as I would think the large proportion of sublimation papers are used in roll form for textile printing, and I can't see a need for that to change to using films. In following this line of thinking through though, if the big textile printers move from transfer sublimation to DTG sublimation and do away with the need for transfer paper, and the waste it creates, will this have a knock on effect to the price of sublimation paper in the long term, is the main users stop using it, and so the market shrinks?

Hi

Sorry for the late reply, well went with the cheap Chinese machine in the end, for the first two weeks we were producing some great covers, but then all of a sudden the machine wouldn't even turn on, so were we are at the moment is we have orders coming in and no machine, m in contact with China but no resolution, it seems maybe its a power problem we have 240V here in Australia and the machine is 220v, it shoulden't be a problem but i think it is, anyway i have been looking around and contacted several players in the 3D market, Sublideck, Sublimet, IDT Systems, all of them saying that their systems are the BEST!!!... but the prices are crazy, they are selling blakl covers for $4 Australian, I'm buying them from China for 80c the machines are around the $8,000 to $10,000 mark, so at the moment I'm not sure what to do, taking the machine to an electrical store tomorrow to find out what I can do, I suspect hat the quality of the machine is not up to scratch in relation to production output. does anyone have any thoughts?

Is the one by BMS the one you have? http://www.printerowners.co.uk/hardware ... achine.htm
I am thinking of buying one. If I do does BMS not guarantee it for 12 months or so?

Yes we do. All machines come with a 12 month warranty.
