Re: Anyone using these mug presses?

Post by Justin »

Just wondered if anyone used the small cheap mug presses like these:

http://www.coralgraph.com/heat-press/mu ... -mug-press

I'm working on a project and would like to know the quality and long term durability of them, particularly the blankets.

This is not going to help but....

When you and I were at Fespa I spontaneously purchased one of the new mug presses sold by Listawood (called a Genie something). A tad more at £225.00 but I have used it quote a bit and I must say it is rather good. The blankets appear to give a good all round even temperature. I recently ran a batch of mugs through it with full coverage top to bottom. One out the other in straight away with the countdown timer starting straight away and it worked a treat with no failures. I ran the mugs at 180 degrees / 180 seconds using Listawood mugs. I have done this using the standard 10oz mug and also the Dinky Durham.

Thanks Simon but specfically looking at these little £70 models for a particular project. Good to hear Listawood are selling something good at a somewhat realistic price though :-)

Sounds like they're ok for occasional work but not heavy use.

What concerned me about those models, is that there appears to be only a timer, but no temperature control.

Yes, they are a fixed temp unit, I would have thought this could be possibly be adjusted on the circuit board.

Potentially (excuse the pun) but there may be a preset style potentiometer on the circuit bard, but there may not be either - won't know 'til it was opened up. If there is, then great, as you could use your own infra-red thermometer to calibrate it yourself.
