We are often asked for a mug/tshirt with an image that we don't own, local scenes etc and have come across Creative Commons which is a conditional re-use licence that creators can apply to their works.
here is a link to a local scene along with an example of suggested credit to the photographer.
I am wondering if this can be used on mugs, printed tiny along the bottom of the image - see 'offline distribution' bottom of page

I accept it is a long and messy addition to any photo, but it could be very convenient.
Any experiences along similar lines or your thoughts?

Vinyl base stickers are good for "C" line info or we often add it at the end of an image that wraps around a mug, reading bottom to top on the mug near the handle. Have the info suggested to use on that site is rarely needed but where you do need lots of text just make it tiny writing. Just did one recently with about 30 words that had to be included. It was just a case of it had to be on there rather than nice and visible.

Thanks Andrew, do I have to just credit the owner of the image, or put all the stuff about the cc licence on too? Could you post an example of how you have done it?
thanks

Maybe put the attribution on the item but then the rest of the wording in the packaging ?? not sure if that would work, or for those that come to the shop a handy slip of paper you can give with the item..

Re: Use of others images under CC Creative Commons licence...
It all depends on what the rights owner wants really. Unfortunately, I can't really help with any info on the legalities for this as we just print what our customers ask for as they have the rights to the images which are cleared their side before it gets to us. I just know the different ways in which we apply them. Currently doing one with over 50 words with most of this hardly readable around the outside of a base sticker. Done others in the past with just 2 or 3 words.logobear;74278 wrote:Thanks Andrew, do I have to just credit the owner of the image, or put all the stuff about the cc licence on too?
